A gift of $800,000 was presented by the Jubilee Day of Prayer (JDOP) Steering Committee to 16 non-profit organisations at the Jubilee Christmas Gift Presentation Ceremony on December 11, 2015. This special gift will be used to bless the needy and less fortunate in Singapore regardless of race, language or religion.
The gift from the Christian community is made up of $700,000 collected from an appeal for donations to bless charities and community care groups during the JDOP event and the surplus of $100,000 from the JDOP event organising funds.
The ceremony which was held at the Mandarin Orchard was attended by Minister for Social and Family Development, Mr. Tan Chuan Jin.
The 16 organisations that received $50,000 each are:

- Sikh Welfare Council
- Singapore Buddhist Welfare Services
- Singapore Children Society
- Society of Sheng Hong Welfare Services
- The Hiding Place
- The Turning Point
“We are humbled by the tremendous support from the Christian community and their love for Singapore,” said Bishop Wee Boon Hup, President of the National Council of Churches of Singapore (NCCS) and Chairman of JDOP 2015. “It is very meaningful that their donations will be used this Christmas to bless and help the poor, needy and low income families in Singapore regardless of race, religion and language.”
“We feel very honoured and would like to record our heartfelt gratitude to all the donors and contributors of this charity fund,” said Mr. Abdul Wahab Hussein, Executive Director PERTAPIS. “This donation will certainly benefit our residents in the ‘Back to School’ tuition programme. This educational and tuition programme pays special emphasis on the children’s education needs. It ensures that all residents of school going age continue with their education and offers the best opportunities for every child to realise their potential.”
“HEB-Ashram is very touched by this magnanimous support and this donation will contribute significantly towards our noble cause of the rehabilitation of offenders in Singapore,” said Mr. K Subramaniam, Head of Ashram, Hindu Endowments Board Halfway House.
“Care Corner is delighted and grateful for the gift from JDOP,” said Mr. Justin Chan, Senior Manager, Children Cancer Foundation. “True to the spirit of Jubilee, this gift will enable youths from disadvantaged background to start well by participating in programs which nurture and develop them towards positive self-identity and motivation in realizing their full potential in life.”
Jointly organised by the National Council of Churches in Singapore (NCCS) and the Evangelical Fellowship of Singapore (EFOS) with support from fellow Christians and organisations, the JDOP 2015 event of July 5 held at the National Stadium marked SG50 with thanksgiving and prayer by the Christian community. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong was a special guest at the event.
