In early 2020, the first cases of 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCov) were reported in Singapore. On 10 February 2020, we were informed by the Ministry of Health (MOH) that a person who had visited Paya Lebar Methodist Church was among those who had tested positive for the virus. The MOH has done all contact tracing and those who have been in close contact with this person have been quarantined. The church has also been sanitised in accordance to National Environment Agency (NEA) guidelines.

On 12 Feb 2020, WHO announced the name for the coronavirus disease: COVID-19.
