Geylang Methodist School (Primary), which will be celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, is a mission field with a harvest waiting to be reaped, and it is in urgent need to raise another $1.1 million for its school upgrading, as building works started last month.
Only 20 per cent of students at the school come from Christian homes. 40 per cent live in one-, two- or three-room flats, while more than 20 per cent have parents who are unskilled or semi-skilled workers.
The school upgrading will cost approximately $30.1 million, out of which GMS(P) has to raise $2.1 million. As of last month, thanks to the generosity of outright donors and through various fund-raising projects, about $1 million has been raised.
- A four-storey Learning Block with an outdoor experiential learning area and eco-garden
- An indoor Sports Hall that will provide more opportunities for pupils to develop their physical talents, and an enhanced room to cater to Boys and Girls Brigade activities
