The talk aims to challenge and prepare Christians to take up the important vocation of Christian scholarship, especially in the discipline of theological studies. Professor Markus Bockmuehl will share from his own experience and reflect on the pitfalls, the rewards and the arduous but meaningful road of such a vocation. Practical advice on how one may prepare oneself for such a calling and choose the right school for further studies will also be given.
Professor Markus Bockmuehl is the Dean Ireland Professor in the Exegesis of Holy Scripture at the University of Oxford. He has published widely, and is highly respected for his work on the interaction between Second Temple Judaism and early Christianity. In addition to his scholarly pursuits, he maintains a keen interest in equipping the Christian Church for bearing witness in our challenging times.
