MCS mourns the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew

The Methodist Church in Singapore mourns with the Lee family and the nation at the passing of a man we all regard as the founding father of modern Singapore, the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

Mr Lee was a guiding light in the uncertainty of the birthing years of our country. We give thanks to God for granting Mr Lee the wisdom, integrity and gumption to steer us from a precarious past to a prosperous present and a promising future.

As with families and faiths, discipline may have brought tears, hurt and resentment; we are often called to sacrifice for the greater good, or for our own. Mr Lee has guided disparate communities into a multi-cultural, multi-racial and multi-religious nation where we are able to worship our God shoulder-to-shoulder with our brothers in other faiths.

Our hearts reach out to the Lee family and the nation during this trying time. Mr Lee will always be remembered and honoured for what he has given and done for Singapore.
