THE 12th Company, The Boys’ Brigade will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a Thanksgiving Dinner at the ACS (Barker Road) Auditorium on Sept 4, 2004 at 7 pm.
It will give thanks to God’s grace in producing pastors for ministry and Christian work in the Methodist and other Christian churches in Singapore as well as leaders in the community.
The Guest-of-Honour will be Mr Lim Siong Guan, Head of the Civil Service. Mr Lim was a Colour Sergeant, Founder’s Man and Drum Major of the Band of the 12th Company in the late 1960s.
The founding captain, Mr Wee Choon Siang, will be among those attending.
The programme will include a band item from some old boys who call themselves “The True Blues”, a PowerPoint presentation by the ACS (I) Company and a bagpipe performance by the ACS (BR) Company. The Juniors will charm the diners with a song presentation.
Mr Ong Ai Teik, Chairman of the Dinner Organising Committee and a former Captain of the 12th Company, said: “For a company that has seen 25,000 through its ranks, we are aiming for at least 50 tables. One table for one year is not something too difficult to achieve.
“This will be a great opportunity for those who have not met each other for many years, some for more than 30 years.”
The occasion will also provide opportunities for those present to reflect on what had been accomplished by the 12th Company though the years and how far it had gone from a humble beginning 50 years ago.
The eight-course dinner will cost $400 per table.
