Thanksgiving hallmark of Christian attitude: Bishop
WITH hearts of praise and gratitude for God’s goodness and faithfulness, about 450 GC WSCS ladies and their family members gathered in the ACS (BR) Concert Hall on Jan 31, 2004 for their annual Thanksgiving Service.
The Guests-of-Honour were Bishop Dr Robert Solomon and his wife. In his exhortation based on Psalm 100, the Bishop reminded the WSCS women that thanksgiving is the hallmark of Christian attitude.
“We are always to remember with joy that God is our creator,” he said. “This can be done by our constant praise, thanksgiving and service to Him. Such spirit and attitude can be passed from generation to generation.”
The theme for the service was “Abounding in Thanksgiving”, taken from Psalm 100.
Inspiring testimonies were given by Mrs Irene Yeo from Barker Road Methodist Church WSCS and Mrs Kanagi Kanakarajan from Seletar Tamil Methodist Church WSCS.
Praise offerings of dances were offered from each of the three Annual Conferences.
An offering was taken for the Methodist Women’s Ministry.
As the audience proceeded to the buffet reception held at Oldham Hall, each was presented with a lovely wrapped gift.
Mrs Kanakarajan’s testimony on how God answered her cry for a child made evident His faithfulness in blessing us from generation to generation (see story below).
As women of the church we have to pass on this blessing to our daughters, daughters-in-law, grand-daughters and great grand-daughters! We have been blessed because God in us has blessed all those around us.
TRAC WSCS ladies also offered Thanksgiving to God at a celebration dinner at the Miramar Hotel on Feb 2. About 370 members and guests were present.
