75th Anniversary celebrations of The Boys’ Brigade in Singapore

THE Boys’ Brigade (BB) in Singapore, by the grace of God, has grown from strength to strength over the past 75 years.

As it celebrates this landmark anniversary, it aims to start the year 2005 in prayer, together with the churches, friends and supporters. Thus, it will hold a BB Jubilee Prayer Week from Jan 16 to 22.

The BB will be publishing a seven-day prayer leaflet to raise awareness of this ministry, detailing items for thanksgiving and prayer concerns with regards to ministry direction and growth.

This could be distributed to church members so that they could pray for the BB during their own personal devotion or during prayer meetings.

The BB will also organise lunchtime prayer meetings from Jan 17 to 20 at the BB Campus at 105 Ganges Avenue. Officers, supporters and friends are invited to attend.

There will also be a Thanksgiving Service at Toa Payoh Methodist Church on Jan 18 at 7.30 pm. Bishop Dr Robert Solomon will be the guest preacher.

The objectives of holding the Jubilee Prayer Week are to:

• RE-AFFIRM the BB’s Christian commitment and identity, reminding its officers and members to place God first in all their work;

• GIVE thanks for 75 years of successful ministry and ask God for His continued blessings on the BB, that it will grow in strength and quality; and

• ENGAGE its most important sponsor/stakeholder, the Church (also our ministry partner and beneficiary), as the BB ministry forges forward to new heights of achievements.

The BB in Singapore celebrates its founding on Jan 12 each year in the schools. It invites churches to celebrate with its members by holding the inaugural BB Sunday service on Jan 16, 2005.

BB Sunday will raise awareness of the BB ministry in churches, update the churches on the development of BB Companies, and create another opportunity for BB Boys and the congregation to interact.

The sponsoring churches are asked to continue to celebrate BB Sunday on the Sunday following Jan 12 in subsequent years.
