Geylang Methodist School (Primary), which will be celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, is a mission field with a harvest waiting to be reaped, and it is in urgent need to raise another $1.1 million for its school upgrading, as building works started last month.
Only 20 per cent of students at the school come from Christian homes. 40 per cent live in one-, two- or three-room flats, while more than 20 per cent have parents who are unskilled or semi-skilled workers.
The school upgrading will cost approximately $30.1 million, out of which GMS(P) has to raise $2.1 million. As of last month, thanks to the generosity of outright donors and through various fund-raising projects, about $1 million has been raised.
Upgrading comprises:
âą A four-storey Learning Block with an outdoor experiential learning area and eco-garden
âą An indoor Sports Hall that will provide more opportunities for pupils to develop their physical talents, and an enhanced room to cater to Boysâ and Girlsâ Brigade activities
We seek your continued partnership through prayers and donations. Please help us to be a âbrighter light on the hillâ in Geylang as we seek to be a God-centred school. Donate to:
âą GMS Management Board Support Fund, if no tax exemption is required
⹠Geylang Methodist School (Primary) if tax exemption is required.

Leap of faith
Gazelles can jump 10 feet (3 m) into the air, but they can be contained behind a six-foot (1.8 m) wall in a zoo. Reason? They wonât jump into an area they canât see. As believers, we need to jump into areas we may not be able to see â one wall at a time, by faith, so as to progress in our walk with Christ.
