Unless God builds the family
All effort is futility.
Children are a gift from God,
They are our reward.
Like arrows in a quiver,
Will our children deliver?
Are they on target?
Will we live to regret?
Train a child the way to go,
They will surely follow;
If we offer a sample
Of our life as an example.
Lord, build our family,
Guard over our city;
Come into our lives to reign,
Lest we labour in vain.
Unless the Lord builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the Lord guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain…
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord…
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them…
(Psalm 127:1-5, NKJV)
Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.
(Proverbs 22:6, NKJV)
