Following from last year’s euphoric Jubilee Day of Prayer, where 51,000 Christians gathered in thanksgiving to God for 50 years of blessings, the National Day Thanksgiving Service is back once again, to galvanise the Christian community here in celebrating Singapore’s 51st National Day.
There is much to give thanks for. The Christian community is grateful to God for blessing our nation with peace and goodwill, and we also acknowledge the gift of responsible leadership in government and at all levels of society which has resulted in the remarkable advancement Singaporeans now enjoy.
As in past years, we gather with the desire to pray and worship in unity as a community of believers: clergy and the laity who contribute to the church and society as politicians, civil servants, civic and community leaders.
This year’s theme is “Fulfilling God’s Purpose”, with an emphasis on Acts 13:36 and Ephesians 2:10. The speaker is the Rt Rev Dr Steven Gan, Vice-President of the National Council of Churches of Singapore (NCCS) and Synod Moderator of The Presbyterian Church in Singapore. The service is organised by the NCCS.
Come and join Christ’s Body in praying for Singapore – for its continued peace, stability and advancement, and that it will be a blessing to the nations.
