FMPS bags some outstanding achievements

FAIRFIELD Methodist Primary School (FMPS) was blessed with a harvest of outstanding pupil achievements this year.

The School Choir, the Boys’ Brigade and the Track and Field School Team made their marks with their much-celebrated achievements. And the victories were even sweeter as most of them were the first ever in Fairfield’s long history.

At the recent Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging 2002, the choir won the much-coveted Gold Award for the first time in the school’s history. This well-deserved achievement was the result of the hard work by committed teachers and students who laboured tenaciously to attain such high standards. This award is indicative of how the choir has successfully raised the excellence bar and broken new ground. We hope to be always a singing Methodist school for God.

Also as a first for FMPS, the school clinched the first runners-up position for the “B” Division Girls in the 43rd National Inter-Primary School Track and Field Championships, as a result of our girls’ outstanding performances in the 4 x 200m and 4 x 100m team relay events which saw them coming in 1st and 2nd respectively. The boys did equally well as they came in 2nd and 3rd in the “C” Division 4 x 400m and 4 x 100m team relay events respectively. This year’s record number of medals bears testimony to the industry and perseverance of the Track and Field Team in achieving excellence for the school.

The 33J Boys’ Brigade of FMPS, too, brought honour to the school when the company emerged champions in the Best dress-up Joseph category of the annual Bible Quiz Competition. Coupled by the boys’ commendable performance in the knowledge-based category, the team eventually clinched the Gold honour roll.

The company continued this winning streak when it claimed Gold for the BB National Street Soccer Competition. Once again, for the second consecutive year, it won the Gold award for the James Milner Fraser Award for Excellence for its overall excellent achievement.

We salute all pupils and teachers involved who have done our school proud, and parents for their strong support for their children’s development in the non-academic areas. True to the spirit of excellence in this school, these milestones pepper our history that sets this school apart for God’s glory.
