BOYS’ BRIGADE CHARITY GOLF 2007
THE Boys’ Brigade Charity Golf 2007 was teed off on a sunny March 6 afternoon. The golfers played hard at the Tampines Course in Tanah Merah Country Club, which was not surprising especially when the hole-in-one prize was the attractive Lexus RX400h.
This was the fourth Charity Golf game that The Boys’ Brigade (BB) has organised. This year it raised $100,000 for the BB21 Development Fund, which will help the BB to continue providing holistic activities for the BB Boys.
After the game, the golfers were treated to a dinner at the nearby Garden Course. The dinner got off to a rousing start when the BB Bagpipers escorted the Guest-of-Honour, President S. R. Nathan, who is the patron of The Boys’ Brigade, into the dining hall and the 18th Singapore Company Pipe Band provided a stirring welcome performance.
Mr Clement Chow upheld the evening’s liveliness with his energetic emceeing amidst the performance of the Seletar Country Club Band. The highlight of the evening was a surprise performance by Singapore’s Elvis Presley, Wilson David, who delighted the audience with – what else? – familiar Elvis hits.
The dinner ended with the much-anticipated Raffle Draw which had prestigious prizes such as a Vulcain Classic 1951 watch and a return air ticket to Zurich.
The top prize, the Vulcain watch, went to Mr Sim Kee Boon, the Chairman of Tanah Merah Country Club. He gamely gave it up for auction to the audience, raising an additional $5,000 for the BB21 Development Fund.
A spokesman for the Charity Golf organising committee said: “The BB’s success is largely attributed to our volunteers and sponsors. As we look forward to another successful partnership with them, we would like to thank them for the support they have been giving us these past years.”
