Not in clouds mantled with thunder,
nor in a fire-laced storm;
Not in the rising cobra poise
of a tsunami,
nor in the swooping menace
of a typhoon
heading for landfall;
Not in elected houses of governance
nor in institutions of man;
But in the stillness,
in the pith of darkness,
when all voices have ceased,
and the stream of consciousness
is stemmed,
Barely audible,
yet in accents clear,
God speaks soul-healing words – comforting, regenerative,
Refurbishing the weary and discouraged.
