Wheels for GOOD, organised by Methodist Welfare Services (MWS), is not your run-of-the-mill family carnival with a challenging component of bike rides. This wheels-themed family event on 15 Aug 2015 is part of MWS’ GOOD (Getting Out of Debt) Programme, which aims to raise $1.7 million to help needy families clear chronic debts and start on a clean financial slate.
Sign up for the 13-km Fun Ride to cycle leisurely through Kallang Park Connector, an ideal bonding exercise for families and friends as you wind through nature and greenery along the route. The registration cost is $50 and the ride flags off at 6.30 a.m.
Or, if you’re keen for a bigger challenge, register for the 50-km ride, which begins at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, and takes you through Upper Thomson, Punggol and Paya Lebar. The registration cost is $80 and the ride flags off at 5.30 a.m.
From 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., cyclists and members of the public can join in fun family races and games on wheels at the carnival featuring a Wheelchair Basketball Challenge, Inline Skate Obstacle Challenge and other games. There will also be caricaturists, instant photo prints and unlimited popcorn and candy floss. Coupons are required for selected activities and treats which are provided on a first-come-first-served and limited basis. Donations for the coupons will go towards MWS’ GOOD programme.
An average of $2,000 of financial assistance will be provided to each of 850 eligible households – selected for the GOOD Programme through stringent screening – to clear off all or part of their debts accumulated due to daily living needs such rental arrears, mortgage payment arrears, utilities and essential household items.
Visit www.wheels4good.sg for more information and register at the website by 30 June! Celebrate the 130th anniversary of The Methodist Church in Singapore this year and Singapore’s Golden Jubilee in a meaningful way together at Wheels for GOOD.
