Leadership change at two Methodist schools

As a new school year begins, two of our Methodist schools will welcome new Principals. Appointed with effect from 15 Dec last year, they are:

Ms Audrey Chen, Fairfield Methodist School (Secondary). Audrey spent most of her teaching career as a General Paper teacher in Raffles Junior College before a three-year stint in the Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education (MOE). She has served as Vice-Principal of Commonwealth Secondary School and Victoria Junior College before her current appointment as Vice-Principal of Fairfield Methodist School (Secondary) for the last two years.

She is no stranger to the Methodist school system as she spent 10 years as a student in Methodist Girls’ School. Audrey attends St. John’s-St. Margaret’s Church.

She replaces Mr Victor Owyong, who has served the school for seven years, and has now been posted to head Presbyterian High School.

Mrs Quek Li Gek, Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School (Secondary). Li Gek is an alumna of PLMGS and started her career as a teacher in the Secondary school. She then worked in the Curriculum Planning and Development Division of the MOE, and served in various leadership positions at Compassvale Secondary School and was a Vice-Principal at St. Andrew’s Junior College. Her most recent posting was as the Assistant Director of the Guidance Branch in the Student Development Curriculum Division, MOE.

A mother of two boys, boys, Li Gek worships at Bethany Independent-Presbyterian Church.

She takes over from Ms Pamela Yoong, who is now the Principal of Tampines Junior College.

Methodist Message welcomes and congratulates our two new Principals!
