MMS relies heavily on the support and donations from the Methodist community to support its works in Cambodia, East Asia, Laos, Nepal, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam.
By the grace of God, the Methodist Missions Society (MMS) has grown steadily and provides widening opportunities in the harvest fieldds – evangelising, equipping and nurturing new believers, making disciples, establishing mission endeavours, and planting churches. MMS is touching lives and making a difference through social concerns, healthcare, education, livelihood projects and practical assistance.
MMS relies heavily on the support and donations from the Methodist community to support its works in Cambodia, East Asia, Laos, Nepal, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam. After many years, these countries continue to present multiple opportunities to reach out to large numbers of unreached groups of people for Christ.
MMS’ ‘My Father’s Business’ Banquet, a fundraising dinner, is held biennially. In 2013, through the generosity of our supporters, we raised $1 million. We thank God for the funds received as we were able to complete the following projects:
▶ The construction of the building that houses the Methodist Church in Nepal Centre and Wesley Bardan Methodist Church in Kathmandu, Nepal (picture above)
▶ The construction of the ‘House of Peniel’ in Huangshan (picture below)
▶ The upgrading of the Vineyard Methodist School in Chiang Mai
This year, the ‘My Father’s Business’ Banquet will be held at The Fullerton Hotel on Sunday, 23 Aug 2015, with Bishop Dr Wee Boon Hup as our Guest of Honour. The Banquet has been fully sponsored by a donor and all other proceeds received will go towards our field projects.
Our focus in FY 2015/2016 is on education, as John Wesley preached salvation for all and education for all. The MMS model for Methodist mission schools reflects Wesley’s vision to provide access to quality education, shaped by Christian values, for all children regardless of family income.
With this as our focus, ‘My Father’s Business’ Banquet 2015 is intended to:
• Mobilise our Methodist community including businessmen, professionals and entrepreneurs to participate and partner with MMS in fulfilling God’s Great Commandment and the Great Commission, and
• Fund our key field education and training development projects for FY 2015/2016:
▶ Vijayee Methodist Church cum Training Centre building project in Ilam District, East Nepal.
▶ Phase 2 of Vineyard Methodist School in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
▶ Renovation and furnishing work for Jiading, International Christian Fellowship (ICF) Office and Outreach Centre in East Asia.
▶ Singapore Mission School building project in Vientiane, Laos.
