ACJC’s Class of 2009 sets new benchmark
THE CLASS OF 2009 of Anglo-Chinese Junjor College (ACJC) did very well, surpassing the performance of the class of 2008 and class of 2007, setting a new benchmark for future years.
92.1 per cent of the students achieved the Ministry of Education (MOE) indicator of obtaining at least three H2 passes, with a pass in GP or KI, surpassing the national percentage of 87.9%. There has also been an improvement in the quality of performance. In the 2008 cohort, 21.8% of our students obtained a minimum of three distinctions or more for their H2 content subjects. This year, 190 out of a cohort of 853 students obtained a minimum of three distinctions or more for their H2 content subjects. This means that 22.3% of them obtained distinctions for at least all of their content H2 subjects.
For the first time under the revised curriculum, ACJC has two students with eight distinctions. In addition, 17 students obtained seven distinctions, 54 students got six distinctions, and 71 students five distinctions. is compares favourably with the 2008 GCE A-levels when we had 16 students with seven distinctions, 40 students with six distinctions, and 65 students with five distinctions. is achievement is even more significant, given that the class of 2009 was a smaller cohort than the class of 2008.
The fine achievements of the students in the A-level examinations complement their outstanding performance in co-curricular areas in 2009. ACJC maintained its tradition of Sustained Achievement Awards in Sports, Physical Fitness and Aestheitcs. These achievements attest to the strength of the college’s programmes in developing our students in the cognitive, physical, aesthetic, social, moral, emotional and leadership domains, fulfilling our mission of providing our students with an all-round education of the highest standards.
The achievements of the college bear testimony to the passion, commitment, dedication and talents of the staff, students, parents and the wider community of alumni and supporters. We also acknowledge that God calls us to be trusted stewards and He alone brings forth the outcomes. We thank God for His blessings and give Him all the glory for His continued faithfulness to the college.
