Extending the Kingdom of God
TRINITY Methodist Church is again embarking on a redevelopment project. It will cost $12 million.
The June 1983 issue of Methodist Message featured a cover article headlined ‘TRINITY’S MILLION $ EXTENSION’. That was the second major project since Trinity Methodist Church was first established in 1956.
The new building will provide for the spiritual, social, recreational and educational needs of a growing membership as well as the people in the community.
Some of the new features and facilities are:
* A larger refurbished sanctuary with upgraded sound, lighting and air-conditioning. The sanctuary was built in 1961 and extended in 1976. This time the structural changes (exterior and interior) will be minimal but the ambience will be enhanced.
* A kindergarten block with a larger children’s playground.
* A baptismal pool.
* Covered walkways between various buildings.
* A worship hall with a total seating capacity of 430 which will also serve as a multi-purpose auditorium and allow for more flexibility for events and conferences.
* A larger and better equipped resource centre.
* Additional rooms for prayer, youth ministry, children’s ministry, meetings, and offices.
* A larger and better equipped choir room.
* A bell tower.
The basements will have:
Chapel of Life (Columbarium).
* A toddler’s room.
* A caretaker’s room.
* Car parks for 111 cars.
The project is expected to be completed within 20 months from January 2003.
