‘Voices of Hope’ CD helps MGS raise funds for cancer care and prevention
METHODIST GIRLS’ SCHOOL (MGS) has produced a CD entitled “Voices of Hope – A Hope for Every Season” in collaboration with the National Cancer Centre Singapore.
The CD features original songs written by MGS alumnae, Ms Natalie Hiong and Ms Karen Lim, and performed by past and present MGS girls along with MGS’ award-winning performing arts groups – the Primary and Secondary Choirs, Secondary Handbell Choir, Secondary String Ensemble and Guitar Ensemble.
The songs in the CD acknowledge that “Life is a Battle” and “Finding Our Way in the Dark” is not necessarily dismal, especially when you hear the “Voices of Hope” and are assured that there is love and there are “Streets of Gold” and “Colour” everywhere.
“Voices of Hope” seeks to share hope for every season with all who listen, especially for those affected by cancer, directly or indirectly. The CD is made possible with the support from the Trustees of the sacrificial fund of Dr Tan- Chow May Ling and Mr Derek Tan. The late couple both battled and passed away from cancer.
The proceeds from “Voices of Hope” will be channelled to the Community Cancer Fund, which provides necessary relief for needy patients as well as improving cancer care and prevention.
“Voices of Hope” was available at MGS’ 125th Anniversary Voices of Hope Concert on July 6 and 7 at the school’s Kwa Geok Choo Auditorium.
Subsequently, the CD went on sale at MGS at 11 Blackmore Drive. The CD is priced at $20.
