METHODIST MESSAGE PICTURE

THE Rev Teddy Kalongo, General Secretary of The United Church of Zambia (right in picture), and the Rev Samson Lowa (left), Moderator of The United Church of Papua New Guinea, paid a courtesy call on Bishop Dr Robert Solomon recently.

They were in Singapore for a meeting of the General Secretaries and Financial Officers of the 31 national churches that are members of the Council for World Mission (CWM). The meeting, held at Furama Riverside Hotel, discussed leadership, stewardship and accountability.

CWM is a worldwide community of Christian churches. The 31 members are committed to sharing their resources of money, people, skills and insights globally to carry out God’s mission locally.

It works through missionary exchanges, communication networks, community projects, theological study and empowerment of women and youth.

It was formed in 1977 and incorporates the London Missionary Society (1795), the Commonwealth Missionary Society (1836) and the (English) Presbyterian Board of Missions (1847).
