About the Graphic Novel

John Wesley: The World, My Parish
Project Background

The life and teachings of John Wesley are foundational to the Methodist movement, influencing our church practice and doctrine even until today. How much do you know about our founder’s life, his struggles, and convictions? How did Methodism spread around the world and grow in Singapore? Put together by an Editorial Committee comprising representatives from the MCS Council on Communications and clergy, this book will tell our history vividly and accurately in an easy-to-read and engaging way. Our hope is for everyone to be inspired and edified by John Wesley and our Methodist pioneers.

“The impact of Methodism had profound ripple effects on many other disciples of Christ across different continents, regions, and times as John and Charles Wesley moved boldly to preach the Gospel, bringing God’s love to many in tangible ways. As you read through the highlights of John Wesley’s past and the Methodist movement that have been beautifully illustrated and presented in this graphic novel, may you also be inspired to pursue Christian perfection in love, by the sanctifying grace of God.”

“It is my pleasure and delight to endorse this easy-to-read graphic novel that retells the history of Methodism. The Jewish Rabbi Baal Shem Tov, an eighteenth-century Polish-Jewish mystic, once said, “In remembrance resides the secret of redemption”. I believe he is right—by relearning our past, the past can perhaps tell us what to do in the present. May this graphic novel help all Methodists to remember who we are and whose we are so that we will continue to be salt and light to our nation and beyond like the early Methodists. To God be the glory!”
