Rev Philip Lim is new MMS head

THE REV PHILIP LIM KIAN LEONG has been appointed as the Executive Director of the Methodist Missions Society (MMS) with effect from January 2012.

He succeeded the Rev Lawrence Chua, who had headed the MMS for two years and is now the Area Director, Training.

The Rev Lim had served the MMS as the Area Director for the Mekong Delta Region covering Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam, after having spent seven years as Missionary Pastor in Cambodia.

While in Cambodia he was appointed the Country Coordinator where he provided leadership to the missionary team and ministry there.

Prior to his stint in Cambodia, he was the Pastor-in-Charge of the Singapore Hakka Methodist Church.

He is an ordained Elder with the Chinese Annual Conference. He is married to Lydia, who was a missionary with Operation Mobilization. They have one daughter, aged 15.

The Rev Chua, who has a passion for training and teaching, will continue to be engaged in training leaders in local churches and in the mission fields of the MMS.

An ordained Elder with Trinity Annual Conference, he has been in the ministry of teaching, training and discipling for more than 27 years.

He had also previously served as the Area Director for the Mekong Delta Region.
