Helping youths see their worth

I believe that youths are the future of our nation. It is therefore my mission to love and walk with them.

Growing up in Sengkang Methodist Church, my youth leaders and community showed me love and influenced me to grow in Christ. In 2021, I was presented an opportunity to join the youth ministry. Inspired by what my leaders had done, I decided to become a cell leader.

When I first started, I doubted my ability to lead. Yet I was sure of one thing—I wanted to nurture the youths and show them God’s love. A year later, I was shaken when my younger cousin took his own life. I questioned if I was capable of walking with others when I couldn’t walk with him.

Later, I realised the pain I experienced was a reminder to invest in the younger generation. Youths today face many unseen battles. Through consistent love, patience and guidance, we help them see their worth through Christ’s eyes. Over the years, it has been deeply encouraging to witness the youths grow in love, faith and righteousness, building a community that reflects God’s heart.

The Bible states, “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another” (1 John 4:11). I pray that we all remember God’s love for us as the foundation for our love and be committed to serve and care for others, mirroring God’s love and sacrifice for us. When we love the next generation as Christ loved us, we help lay the foundation for a future filled with his hope, goodness and truth.
