On 24 October, Anglo-Chinese School (Academy) held a Prayer Walk, Thanksgiving and Volunteer Appreciation event at its interim site at 3 Teck Whye Crescent ahead of the school’s opening 5 January 2026. The school is dedicated to nurturing children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who are cognitively able to access the national curriculum, while discovering and developing each student’s God-given strengths to empower them to grow in independence and flourish as they make a meaningful difference in their communities.

About 70 guests—among them many Methodist pastors, ACS alumni, past and present principals, and leaders from Bukit Panjang Methodist Church (BPMC)—gathered to celebrate God’s continual provision in bringing ACS (Academy) from vision to reality. As the anchor church, BPMC will establish a Preaching Point to provide pastoral care and spiritual support to the students and staff at ACS (Academy). The event also served as an occasion to express appreciation to the various work groups and volunteers for their dedication and faithful service.

The programme opened with a time of worship, after which participants embarked on a prayer walk through the campus. Guided by ACS (Academy) staff and volunteers from BPMC, they paused at three symbolic “stations”: classrooms, canteen and Student Development Hub. At each station, prayers were lifted for the students, staff, and school community, anchored on Scripture passages from Proverbs 22:6, Psalm 139:14 and Romans 15:7.

The prayer points featured in the day’s bulletin are reproduced here for your continued prayer and intercession.

  • Staff will be filled with compassion, wisdom and discernment, creating safe spaces that foster trust, spiritual renewal and growth in character.
  • The school community will embody unity, peace and God’s love in all that it does.

The event was graced by Bishop Philip Lim, who delivered an encouraging message from Luke 14, drawing from the Parable of the Great Banquet. He reminded those present that we serve a generous God who welcomes all and urged the ACS (Academy) community to embrace this ministry with gratitude and purpose—especially amid the growing need for education for children with autism in Singapore. He underscored the importance of being “thankful to God for this opportunity to run this school” and “for this platform where we can show God’s love and generosity to those who come through this school”. He also emphasised that, like the servants in the parable, “we must know the heart of our Master”, and he called on all to serve with dependence on God’s grace and strength, extending his love to every child who walks through the school’s doors.

Former Chairman of the ACS Board of Governors, Mr Richard Seow, also reflected on the school’s journey—a decade-long testament to God’s faithfulness. He recounted how the project, sustained through prayer and perseverance, saw doors open in God’s perfect timing, even when hope seemed dim. Mr Seow expressed heartfelt gratitude for the steadfast support of many, among them past and present ACS principals, Methodist Welfare Services and the wider ACS community.

The evening concluded with a fellowship dinner, where ACS (Academy) principal Ms Esther Kwan expressed appreciation for her team’s dedication as they prepare for the school’s opening in January 2026. True to ACS tradition, the gathering closed with the singing of the school anthem.

ACS Academy will be starting with its first batch of lower Primary students next year. Visit https://acsacademy.edu.sg/ to find out more about what they are doing and how you can get involved.
