I feel closest to God through music

Serving in church as both a pianist and a member of the choir has become a very important part of my life. Music has always been one of the ways I feel closest to God, so being able to serve him through music is something I am very grateful for.

As a church pianist, it is very fulfilling to know that I can help bring about an atmosphere of worship and set the tone for the service. Before anything is preached or shared, music can soften hearts and help the congregation turn their attention to God. I still remember when the Covid-19 restrictions first started easing a few years ago and live music could be played in church again. It was such a joy to see everyone responding so warmly and enjoying the music together. That moment reminded me how much music can lift people’s spirits and draw them into worship.

Being part of the choir is also very special to me. For a few years, our church did not have a choir. Now that we have one again, we are reminded how powerful hearing different voices come together as one can be. I know it blesses the congregation, but truthfully, it blesses me too. Singing in the choir allows me to worship the Lord in a way that I truly enjoy, and that brings me a deep sense of joy and satisfaction.
