Three distinguished ACSians join the ACS Board of Governors, succeeding leaders who together gave more than 57 years of service.
On 1 June 2026, as part of its leadership renewal process, the Anglo-Chinese School Board of Governors (ACSBOG) bade farewell to three longstanding governors and welcomed three new governors. The three new governors are all distinguished ACSians, two of whom were appointed by the Bishop of The Methodist Church in Singapore (MCS), while one is a respected member of the community, according to the constitutional rules of the ACSBOG.
The new governors are Associate Professor Tan Tin Wee, Mr Lee Lung Nien and Mr Wendell Wong. They replace Mr Richard Seow, Rev Kenneth Huang and Mr Lim Teck Yin, who have served faithfully for many years.
ACSBOG Chairperson Mr Choe Peng Sum thanked Mr Seow, Rev Huang and Mr Lim for their distinguished and longstanding service to the schools. Collectively, they have served the ACS Family for more than 57 years, leading it through key junctures and decisions, including the expansion of ACS to include ACS (Academy), which serves students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Mr Choe noted that Mr Seow chaired the ACSBOG for 16 years and, despite stepping down from the Board, will continue to serve the ACS Family as Chairperson of ACS (Academy)’s School Management Committee (SMC), with Rev Huang and Mr Lim as SMC members.
In his LinkedIn post on 12 May 2026, Mr Seow reflected on lessons he had learnt during his time of service on the ACSBOG. He outlined three principles: doing well (pursuing excellence and high achievement), doing right (grounding technical capabilities in integrity for ethical decision-making, especially in today’s complex world) and doing good (channelling success toward the broader goal of societal good rather than self-interest).
“Ultimately, leadership is stewardship. We inherit institutions, communities and opportunities built through the sacrifices of those who came before us. Our responsibility is not merely to preserve them, but to strengthen them and pass them on better than we found them. The goal is not personal legacy, but lasting positive impact,” he said.
About the new governors
Associate Professor Tan Tin Wee (ACPS 1973, ACSS 1977, ACJC 1979) holds the Della Suantio Lee Professorship in Mental Health and Digital Science at the Mind Science Centre, NUS. He was the founding Director and Chief Executive of the National Supercomputing Centre (NSCC) Singapore, which built and manages Singapore’s first national petascale facility. He also serves on the ASEAN High-Performance Computing Task Force, driving supercomputing, AI and quantum computing.
Mr Lee Lung Nien (ACJS 1976, ACSS 1980) is the Chief Executive Officer of Citi Singapore. A seasoned banking leader, he brings deep expertise in financial services and a strong commitment to clients and community. Beyond his corporate role, Mr Lee is a founding member of Holland Village Methodist Church (HVMC), where he serves in the music ministry as a drummer. He is no stranger to serving ACS, having been a member of the ACS (Independent) Board of Management since 2022, contributing to the strategy, governance and continued excellence of ACS(I).
Mr Wendell Wong (ACPS 1983, ACSS 1987, ACJC 1989) is co-Head of investigations and criminal law practice, and a Director of dispute resolution at Drew & Napier, one of Singapore’s leading law firms. A highly respected senior civil, commercial and criminal lawyer, he is a Board member of the Housing & Development Board (HDB) and sits on the Board of Governors of National Trade Union Congress Foundation Limited. He previously served on the Board of Governance of Methodist Welfare Services for over ten years, from October 2010 to September 2020, and has been on the ACS (I) Board of Management since October 2021. Wendell worships at Barker Road Methodist Church with his family.
