LIVING HOPE Methodist Church in Tampines held a ground-breaking service on Feb 22, 2003.

The Rev Dr Isaac Lim, President of Trinity Annual Conference (TRAC), was the guest preacher. Assisting him in the service were the Rev Melvin Huang, District Superintendent (East), and Dr Wu Dar Ching, TRAC Vice-President.

A spade, which was used by Pentecost Methodist Church for its ground-breaking service at Pasir Ris many years ago, was used to “break” the ground at the Tampines church site.

A wooden cross was lifted at the site to mark it as a place set apart for the Lord’s work. The cross was last used by the Methodist Church of the Incarnation at its ground-breaking service.

Present at the “low-key” service were the Rev Dr George Wan, a pioneer pastor of Living Hope Methodist Church; Mr Yeo Pee Hock, Chairman of the church’s Local Church Executive Committee; several TRAC pastors, members and friends of the church, and representatives from the Changi network of churches: Changi Baptist Church, Changi Christian Fellowship and Prison Fellowship Singapore.

The Rev Dr Lorna Khoo is the Pastor-in-Charge of Living Hope Methodist Church.
