MORE than 40 chaplains, Christian Ministry Staff (CMS) and Local Church Staff serving in our Methodist schools attended a Dedication Service at the Methodist Church Headquarters on March 21.
Also present were Mr Tan Wah Thong, Chairman of the ACS Board of Governors and Executive Director of The Methodist Church in Singapore; Dr Lee Li Eng, Chairman of the ACS (Independent) Board of Management; the Rev Dr Daniel Lee Kok Pheng, Chairman of the Committee on Education; and the Rev Dr Norman Wong, Director of Ministry in Schools.
In his exhortation, based on Mark 2:1-12, Bishop Dr Robert Solomon told the chaplains and CMS that if they want to follow Christ in ministry, they should have a clear aim and show affection or love for the students they serve.
They have been given authority by the church to minister to the students, he added, and they should minister effectively.
In their Act of Dedication, all those present pledged to dedicate themselves to prayer, the ministry of discipleship, the ministry of preaching and teaching, and to Jesus’ path of love.
The service ended with the singing of the song of dedication, “Let the Flame Burn Brighter”.
