CHRIST JESUS – GOD’S YES TO THE WORLD”. This is the title of the message for the Evangelistic Rally at the Aldersgate Convention 2011 to be held at Toa Payoh Methodist Church on May 21 from 5 pm to 7 pm.
The Rev Dr Eddie Fox (right ), World Director of Evangelism of the World Methodist Council, will be the speaker. This is the first time that such a rally will be held as part of the annual Aldersgate Convention since the current series was launched in 2002.
The message will focus on the heart of the Gospel.
Said the Rev Dr Fox: “ The Good News is that God has said ‘yes’ to us first and invites our response of ‘yes’ in faith and trust.
“This is the heart of the matter and we pray that it will be a matter in our hearts. Christ Jesus is the ‘yes’ to all of God’s Promises.”
The Rev Dr Fox will make an altar call at the end of his message.
The theme for this year’s Convention is “Go and Tell: Proclaiming the Gospel Today”. It will begin with the well-loved Hymn Festival to be held on May 20 from 7.45 pm to 9.45 pm. is year’s Festival will see greater lay participation with the ordinary lay members leading in the service.
The Rev Dr Fox will also speak at these events:
• The Aldersgate anksgiving Service on May 22, from 5 pm to 7 pm: His message is entitled “Ambassadors of the Good News”.
“We are called to spread the Good News of the Gospel by Word, Deed and Sign in the power of the Holy Spirit so that the world may know Jesus Christ,” he said.
• The Aldersgate Lecture on May 23, from 7.45 pm to 9.45 pm: “ The Wesleyan Way of Revival”.
“We, the people called Methodists, are followers of Jesus in the company of the Wesleys. John Wesley made it clear the Wesleyan Way for the Methodist Movement is to be alive, vibrant and growing.”
In addition, he will address pastors on the morning of May 23.
